We Are an "A" School
Somerset Academy Miramar - “Home of the Sharks” opened in 1997 under the name Somerset Academy Neighborhood School. It was the first of the Somerset Academies and was one of the first Florida Charter Schools. Our school is located in the city of Miramar. Miramar has been and continues to be a family-oriented community. Somerset Miramar’s new building opened, just across the street, in August of the 2006/2007 school year with approximately 840 students in its first year. Currently, our neighborhood school is known as Somerset Academy Miramar South Elementary. Our newer building serves kindergarten through 8th grade. While we have two elementary schools and a middle school all together in the Vizcaya residential community, we operate as one student body. During the 2008/2009 school year, our school became eligible for Title I funding. Through Title I funding, our school has benefited from supplementary staff, instruction, and support services for students who need additional assistance in core subject areas. Somerset Academy Miramar is a public charter school and a school of choice. As a charter school we have the freedom to be more innovating. We build partnerships with teachers, families, students, and the community. We are an A school and strive to provide the best in quality education.
